Riverzedge Community Garden returning

WOONSOCKET – Riverzedge Arts announces that their Community Garden is returning for the 2026 growing season. The garden will resume full operations this spring at the Riverzedge Arts building, 196 2nd Ave., in Woonsocket’s Fairmount neighborhood.
In 2024, Riverzedge Arts faced significant funding challenges which led to a pause on all programming, including the community garden.
In 2025, a partnership was formed between Riverzedge Arts and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island, allowing for the relaunch of its programs in workforce development, sustainability, and community impact for teens, states a news release. The garden will serve as an important community resource in Woonsocket, increasing access to fresh food, bringing green space to an urban environment, and providing learning experiences for residents of all ages, according to the release.
Garden plots are now available for reservation for the 2026 growing season. Riverzedge Arts will provide raised beds with soil, water, hoses, and a garden shed equipped with commonly used tools, including shovels, rakes, and hand tools. Waist-height accessible beds are also available.
Membership for the garden is $20 per bed for the growing season, and members may reserve up to two beds. Space is limited, and plots are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so interested gardeners are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. The membership fee will be waived for individuals who have donated $20 or more to Riverzedge Arts in the past 12 months.
Those interested in reserving one or two garden plots for the 2026 season can contact Riverzedge Arts by email at info@riverzedgearts.org or by phone at 401-767-2100 to receive a registration form. Once completed, registrants will be sent their assigned plots and combination to the shared garden shed, garden policies and procedures, a contract to sign, and a liability waiver via email. Completed contracts, waivers, and membership feeds can be dropped off at the Riverzedge Arts main office between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Alternative drop-off times between Monday and Friday can be arranged by calling 401-767-2100.
