SNAP/DHS Assistance

Building Bright Futures Together: Resources to assist households with childcare and other basic necessities

Nurturing Families, Empowering Futures

At BGCNRI, we understand the importance of supporting families in accessing vital resources. Through our SNAP and DHS program, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of parents and children in need. SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) ensures that families have access to nutritious food, promoting their overall well-being. Additionally, our partnership with DHS (Department of Human Services) enables us to provide essential social services, including healthcare, child welfare, and financial support. Together, we aim to create a supportive environment where families can thrive, empowering them to build a brighter future for themselves and their children.

SNAP – Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is the nation’s largest program for fighting domestic hunger.

Department of Human Services CCAP Program

DHS’s Office of Child Care supports the workforce in providing families with equitable access to high-quality, safe, affordable child care.

How To Apply for SNAP

SNAP helps eligible individuals and families by providing funds to purchase food. Eligibility for SNAP is based on income, deductions, household size and resources in some circumstances. You can apply for SNAP through the online portal, by mail, or in-person. The Rhode Island Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs (RIABGC) is a SNAP Outreach partner helping Rhode Islanders learn about and apply for SNAP.

If you would like assistance with completing an application, or have questions about SNAP you may contact our Director of Family and Community Engagement, Michael Kenyon, MikeK@bgcnri.org
